Revision A was the initial prototype fitted to the CINCH enclosure. It was more of a proof of concept than a step toward production. It was overly complicated due to the amount of external support required by the TMS470 MCU primarily. You can see that the revision 'C' is much more streamlined, the component count is reduced by about 100. Revision 'B' was essencially the same as revision 'C' with a Freescale MAC7101 MCU but was scrapped due to supply concerns with the MAC71xx series, the STR730 is a reasonably close replacement for the MAC71xx with the exception of being 8 A/D inputs too short, such is why the addition of the SPI A/D converter/MUX.
